Three Layers, One Gentle Glow
The Trishade — or Shangri-La Blind, as a lot of Singaporeans know it — is made from three layers of fabric instead of one. It gives your window a softer, more elegant look, and a gentle way to manage light throughout the day.
The Right Fabric Changes Everything
Dimout Trishade Blinds
It’s a beautiful, soft dimout blind for most of your day-to-day life, with a lovely open option whenever you want a bit more light and view.
- Construction: Three layers — two sheer outer layers and one dimout inner layer
- Light effect: (closed/normal position) Soft, comfortable dimming & (fully open position) Filtered natural light through the sheer outer layers

How the Trishade Actually Works
The Trishade works a little differently from most blinds. Pull it all the way down to the bottom, and the three layers line up to give you that soft, filtered, see-through look. Stop it anywhere else — halfway, three-quarters, wherever feels right — and it sits in a gentle dimout instead. Raise it all the way up and the window is fully open. So in day-to-day life, it’s mostly a soft, private dimout blind, with the option to open it up completely whenever you want a little more light coming through.

FAQ
What are Shangri-La blinds?
Shangri-La blinds — also called Trishade blinds — are a three-layer fabric roller blind that creates a soft, layered look on the window. They consist of two sheer outer layers and one dimout inner layer, and are popular in Singapore for their elegant appearance and smooth light-control experience.
Are Trishade blinds and Shangri-La blinds the same?
Yes. They refer to the same type of blind. VB Blind calls them Trishade blinds, but Shangri-La blind is the commonly used name among Singapore homeowners.
How does the Trishade blind control light?
The three layers work by shifting their alignment as the blind is raised or lowered. The OPEN position occurs only when the blind is fully lowered all the way down — the sheer layers align to allow filtered light through. In any other position, the solid dimout inner layer dominates, giving a closed dimout effect.
Is the Trishade blind open or closed most of the time?
In everyday use, the Trishade blind is in a closed (dimout) effect for most positions. The open, sheer effect only appears when the blind is fully extended to the lowest position. This is how all three-layer Shangri-La type blinds work by design.
Is the Trishade blind available in blackout?
No. The Trishade (Shangri-La) blind is a dimout product only. The construction does not allow for a full blackout variant. For rooms requiring complete darkness, we recommend a standard Blackout Roller Blind instead.
Can Shangri-La blinds be motorised?
Yes. VB Blind Trishade blinds are available with motorised operation using Dooya, AOK, or Somfy tubular motors, controlled by RF remote with optional smart home integration. Mains power connection required.
What is the maximum size for a Shangri-La blind?
Manual: max 2.5m wide by 3.0m drop (min 0.4m wide). Motorised: max 3.0m wide by 6.0m drop (min 0.8m wide). Both ceiling and wall mount options are available.
Are Shangri-La blinds suitable for a Singapore bedroom?
Trishade blinds provide a comfortable dimout in the closed position, which many Singapore homeowners find suitable for bedroom use. However, if you require full darkness — especially for shift workers or young children — a Blackout Roller Blind is a better choice.
How do I clean Shangri-La blinds?
Use a soft dry cloth or a low-suction vacuum brush on a gentle setting. The three-layer construction is more delicate than a flat roller blind — do not rub, tug, or wet the fabric aggressively. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with mild soap dabbed gently is recommended.
What is the difference between a Trishade blind and a Korean blind?
Both are multi-layer fabric blinds, but they differ in construction and function. A Korean Blind (Shadow Blind) has two woven layers and provides consistent light reduction throughout — it behaves like a standard roller blind with a textured face. A Trishade (Shangri-La) has three layers that shift alignment as it moves, offering a distinct open/closed transition at full extension.
